Dan Kaplan

Dan Kaplan's passion is sustainable city building. He is widely recognized for integrating design excellence, sustainable innovation, and an urban point of view into noteworthy architectural and urban design projects. Kaplan is a senior partner at fxcollaborative, and design director of the firm's Urban Studio. Throughout his 24-year tenure at fxcollaborative, he has principally served in a design and leadership capacity for many of the firm's significant projects, and approaches each project — from individual buildings to large scale urban plans — with the viewpoint that it must contribute to the larger totality. As an architect, urban designer, and teacher, he continues to evolve his design vision through architectural investigation, academia, and creating commissioned work.

His current projects include the Renaissance Tower Atasehir-Istanbul office building in Turkey; the Qalaalti Hotel Spa in Baku, Azerbaijan; the HealthCare Chaplaincy, a new, projected LEED Platinum certified, mixed-use project in New York City that combines residential, medical, and educational components; Eleven Times Square, a LEED Gold certified corporate office tower in midtown Manhattan; and more than 26 residential buildings and developments in New York City.

Kaplan has served on the Dean's Advisory Board for AAP since 2009 and was a visiting lecturer for the Department of Architecture's spring 2011 lecture series.
