Chris Mills is a dramaturg, editor, and educator. She taught for a decade at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in both the undergraduate Drama Department and Playwrights Horizons Theater School. She was the resident dramaturg for Theater Mitu and has worked as a dramaturg with Little Lord, Lucky Pierre Performance, 24seven Play Lab, and Young Playwrights. She is currently working on The Rocky Horror Show, which will open at the Roundabout Theater in New York City (at Studio 54) in April. She has made theater and performance with the Public Theater, Big Mess Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Company, Stage Left Theater, Philadelphia Alliance for Performance Alternatives, and Walnut Street Theater, as well as with Momenta Art Alternatives and Goat Island Performance Group.
She has been published in Art Journal, TDR, Frakcija, Theater Journal, Journal of Architectural Education, Women & Performance: a journal of feminist theory, The Village Voice, and in the books Out of Time and Place: an anthology of plays from The Women’s Project Playwrights’ Lab, and [1968]: Moments of Culture in Context. She’s an alumna of NYU’s Department of Performance Studies, Temple University’s Art History Department, and the Whitney Museum’s Independent Scholars Program. Mills was also the Global Content Strategist for UNICEF and is currently Director of Communications for the Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana.
