Andre Hafner is the Director of AAP IT Solutions in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. He designs, builds, and oversees a wide ecosystem of custom applications, processes, and digital services that support students, faculty, and staff across AAP’s Ithaca, NYC, and Rome locations. His work powers essential operations including attendance systems, academic program administration, scheduling platforms, the AAP Store point of sale system, student worker management, digital output centers, analog and digital input centers, and the Plotting Center’s workflow environment.
Andre specializes in building secure and scalable systems using Perl CGI, MySQL, Docker, Node.js, and modern cloud infrastructure. He manages AAP’s server environments, container orchestration, DNS, SSL, Cloudflare configurations, and key integrations with Cornell’s identity, email, and security frameworks. He also plays a central role in AAP’s security and compliance posture through WISP documentation, NIST CSF analysis, and third-party risk assessments that ensure AAP’s technology remains aligned with university and regulatory expectations.
Andre brings a strong passion for open source technology and grassroots digital ecosystems. He is the creator of BRICK, AAP’s blockchain-backed community token, and designed a LETS-style (Local Exchange Trading System) economy around it using the Ergo platform. Through this work he has helped cultivate a culture of appreciation, peer recognition, and community-driven value exchange within AAP. His commitment to innovation, collaboration, and student-focused design allows him to turn complex needs into intuitive, reliable tools that strengthen daily life across the AAP community.
