I came in as a shy freshman from Cleveland, but truly feel that I am ending my time in OURS and my major as part of a family.
Why did you choose Cornell and AAP?
I chose Cornell because I fell in love the AAP's urban and regional studies program, which afforded me the opportunity to study cities in the context of the world. I have also benefited immensely from classes that I have taken in other colleges at the university. Taking classes taught by faculty at the top of their respective fields has been an invaluable opportunity to satisfy my interests and help me discover new passions.
What experiences have contributed to your sense of belonging at AAP?
Being a member of OURS since my first year has been an important part of my AAP experience. I came in as a shy first-year from Cleveland, but truly feel that I am ending my time in OURS and my major as part of a family. Not only have I learned so much about cities across the world, I have had the opportunity to travel around the country with other students and professors, making genuine and lasting memories along the way. I am so much richer for the friends that I have made from all over the world, the mentorship relationships that I have built with faculty members, and even the public speaking and time management skills that I mastered when I served as president of OURS!
What are your extracurricular interests and how have you incorporated them into your college life?
While at Cornell, I have been involved with OURS (the Organization of Urban and Regional Studies, which is a student-run club for undergraduates with an affinity for all things urban) and AAP Ambassadors, both of which have allowed me to be a part of the unique AAP community. I have also participated in various interdisciplinary project teams on campus, including Design Connect and Cornell University Sustainable Design. The two internships that I have had during my time here have allowed me to become involved in community organizing and local events in the City of Ithaca.
What do you hope to accomplish during your time at AAP and after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to move to New York City and continue in the field of urban planning.
