Over a nearly 40-year career in luxury hospitality and real estate private equity, Allen Smith has led organizations across a wide range of scale — institutional to start-up — and of purpose — investor to operator. He began his real estate investment career at PGIM Real Estate, becoming CEO of the business in 2008 and leading its expansion in global reach, assets under management, and product offerings. In 2013 he became President and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, the leading luxury hotel company in the world, where he developed a deep understanding of luxury hospitality while delivering record growth in units and earnings by his departure in 2018. He then extended that experience to the investment side as CEO of Mohari Hospitality, a family-office-backed platform focused on luxury hospitality. He serves on the boards of Bombardier, the Canadian aerospace manufacturer, and DOOR, a prop-tech company.
Collectively, these experiences have shaped his perspective on global markets, investors, consumer markets, organizational development, and leadership.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in sociology and a Master of Professional Studies from the Nolan School of Hotel Administration, both from Cornell University, and is an Emeritus Trustee.
