William Lim '80: Back + Forth
]William Lim ’80, B.Arch ’81, M.Arch ’82, will present his recent mixed media works that deal with issues of traversing cultures and crossing between art and architecture during the Advisory Council.
Lim is the managing director and owner of CL3 Architects Ltd., in Hong Kong. Following graduation from Cornell, he worked in Boston for five years before returning to Hong Kong in 1987, at which time he worked for a Hong Kong developer for six years. In 1993, he established CL3, and the company has grown from a tiny Hong Kong studio to an award-winning design firm with liaison offices in Beijing and Shanghai. The company has focused on providing professional architecture, interior design, sourcing, 3D visualization and project management services to the hospitality, corporate and retail markets in Hong Kong and China. The company has completed numerous architecture and interior design projects, including The Bright Chang An Building and Pacific Century Place. In 2005, CL3 was honored with an Award of Merit from the Northwest and Pacific Region of AIA for the design of the Evian Spa. The company was also featured in the November 2, 2005 25th Anniversary issue of Home Journal; their design of a “show home” in Shanghai was chosen as one of the “25 most daring design projects in the PRC.” Lavina Y. Lim BS HE ’80 is Executive Director, General Services for Goldman Sachs Asia LLC.
The Lims hosted an AAP alumni event in January 2005 for Porus Olpadwala, and regularly attend Cornell-related events in Hong Kong. Mrs. Lim is a former member of the Cornell University Council (1999-2003), and has also served as an advisor for the Cornell Club of Hong Kong.
