Sulan Kolatan: Co-Citation and Chimera Now

Sulan Kolatan is the principal of KOL/MAC LLC, an architecture and design firm she cofounded with William J. MacDonald. The New York City based firm has been internationally acknowledged as a leader in digital architecture and technologically innovative design. In 2004 KOL/MAC LLC represented the U.S. at the International Architecture Biennale in Venice. KOL/MAC LLC projects are represented in the permanent collections of cultural institutions including MoMA in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, SFMOMA in San Francisco, and the Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt. KOL/MAC LLC has collaborated with and/or received support from many leaders in their respective fields including Corian and Sentry Glass of DuPont (U.S.), AI Implant of Biotech Industries (Toronto), Alias (U.S.), Merck Chemicals (Germany), Autodesk (U.S.), C-TEK (U.S.), ARUP Advanced Geometry Unit (UK) and others. KOL/MAC LLC continues to be published worldwide, notably, in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Phaidon Press, Rizzoli, GA Houses, Architectural Digest, ACTAR, and other similar venues. Kolatan holds a master of science in architecture and building design from Columbia University and a bachelor of architecture RWTH Aachen, Germany. She has taught at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University from 1999 to 2005 and served as acting chair of the Department of Architectural Design and Building Technology at the Technical University in Darmstadt in 2002–03.
