When ShoreBank began in 1973 it was created to demonstrate that a regulated bank could be instrumental in revitalizing the communities being avoided by other financial institutions. Ronald Grzywinski is chairman of the board of ShoreBank Corporation and serves on its management committee. Mary Houghton has been a member of the senior management of ShoreBank Corporation since she cofounded the company in 1973 and is currently president of the holding company and interim president of the bank. In April 2006, Grzywinski and Houghton were co-recipients of the Gleitsman Foundation Citizen Activist Award in recognition of ShoreBank’s inspiration to the worldwide community development banking industry. Bill Myers recently retired as CEO of Alternatives Credit Union, Ithaca NY.
