Songdo IBD: New-City Development in the Korean Peninsula
Case Studies in Urban Development Symposium, 2010
Case Studies in Urban Development (CSUD), hosted by AAP, is an annual symposium focused on an urban real estate project recently completed or in an advanced phase of development. AAP is leading a new model of interdisciplinarity as it relates to the design professions, and CSUD is an integral part of the college’s emerging leadership in urbanism and the synergy of urban processes with the capital markets and real estate, cultural politics and planning, architecture, and the arts. The selected projects create the terms of critical dialogue that includes government officials, real estate developers and financiers, urban planners and designers, architects, landscape architects, curators and artists, and cultural theorists. Since 2006, CSUD symposia have explored urban development projects in Seattle, San Francisco, London, and Washington, DC.
This year CSUD will explore the implications of Songdo IBD on the emerging discourse of new-city development in the Global South.
