Peter Kwong: Legal and Illegal Chinese Immigration to NYC

International Studies in Planning, Spring 2007 Lecture Series

Peter Kwong is a professor in the Asian American Studies Program at Hunter College and a professor of sociology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He is known for his work on Asian-American and especially Chinese-American labor concerns, and his research focuses on the intersection of immigration, labor, and racial issues. Kwong is a regular contributor to The Nation and The Village Voice. As a video documentary filmmaker, he is a recipient of the CINE Golden Eagle Award, for coproducing a PBS program on immigration. Most recently, Kwong was named by A. Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Asian Americans of the past decade.
