MOAAP Indian Gala and Banquet
The Minority Organization of Architecture, Art & Planning (MOAAP) is very pleased to extend an invitation to our Indian Gala and Banquet for the benefit of our Service Learning initiative in India.
As part of this year's service learning initiatives, MOAAP is organizing a trip to various cities in India to provide a space for students to become directly engaged in community service projects, and develop a framework to discuss contemporary issues in the fields of architecture, art and planning. Perhaps more importantly, this trip will also allow students to explore the ways in which these three fields converge to produce vastly different, culturally dissonant environments across one of the world's oldest regions.
As part of our main fundraising events, we will be hosting an Indian Banquet and Gala to foster participation and exchange between University faculty, students, and staff-providing a venue for the Cornell community to become acquainted with our project. The event will take place on November 20, 2009 at 7:00pm in the Duffield Hall Atrium. We will be offering authentic Indian cuisine catered by New Delhi Diamonds, and we will feature performances by various student-run organizations on campus. Tickets are on sale at www.cornelltickets.com, and are also available in Willard Straight Hall at a price of $25.
***MOAAP is an established organization that represents students from minority backgrounds in the College of Architecture, Art & Planning. Our main objective is to provide our members with opportunities for academic and pre-professional development by promoting discourse between Cornell faculty and students, and fostering community outreach and service initiatives. As part of our activities, we maintain close contact with guest speakers working in the fields of design and urban planning, we participate in philanthropic activities with local institutions to promote the disciplines of art, architecture and planning, and host socio-cultural events that reflect our diverse backgrounds and interests.***
