Mimi Li: Certainties in an Uncertain World

This event has passed.

Black and white drawing of a complicated space ship with a singular chair overlooking two planets rotated clockwise.

The exhibits encompass scenes that range from the relatively familiar such as home to the relatively unfamiliar such as outer space. Mixing elements surrealism with modern-day symbols, I use the fish-eye lens to manifest our inner worlds with all of their complexities into the real world with enough details to compel the viewer to continue examining and reexamining each image, mimicking the complex process of developing a self-narrative as we explore our own thoughts, memories, and emotions. Each image is intended to transport viewers to a familiar physical space but imbued with surreal elements, allowing viewers to explore the boundary between the familiar and unfamiliar.

Certainties in an Uncertain World features work by Mimi Li (B.F.A. '23).
