Melody Rose Stein: Existence Tactics
Documents form landscapes; remnants become structures. Occupation is a strategy for construction and an assertion of being. Existence Tactics relies on the archive, documentation-image, and the spontaneous production of sculptural entities to enact a failed system of analysis, a dataset blemished by romanticism, a series of hypotheses never supported.
Melody Stein (B.F.A '16) created this work during six weeks of living, traveling, and working in Trento, Venice, Piedimonte Matese, and Riola Sardo, Italy. These works are field notes, data points, and the consequences of 42 days spent walking.
