CRP's Associate Professor Neema Kudva is the recipient of Cornell's 2015 Kendall S. Carpenter Memorial Advising Award.

The awards, which are given each year to four faculty from across the campus, underscore of the importance of undergraduate advising, and are based on testimonials from the nominee's student advisees.

"Neema's nomination was supported by compelling letters from her past and current advisees," says Susan Christopherson, professor and chair of CRP. "Her impact is felt not only here within AAP, but across campus in other departments including the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs, the South Asia Studies Program, and as a faculty fellow at the Carl Becker House. The range of Neema's advising responsibilities and the professional and sensitive way in which she guides students both in academic pursuits and toward their career goals attests to her excellence as a faculty advisor."

Other 2015 recipients are Barbara Bedford, Department of Natural Resources; Kelly Liu, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics; and Barbara Strupp, Division of Nutritional Sciences. Each recipient receives a $5,000 award.

The awards were established by trustee Stephen Ashley '62, M.B.A. '64, to honor his advisor, the late Professor Kendall S. Carpenter, who taught business management from 1954 to 1967.
