June Yap: You and I, We Have Never Been So Far Apart: Art in South and Southeast Asia

June Yap is a curator based in Singapore, currently on a curatorial residency for the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative, as curator for South and Southeast Asia. Focusing on contemporary art practice, selected curatorial projects include the Singapore Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale with artist Ho Tzu Nyen’s The Cloud of Unknowing (Italy); the video program You and I, We’ve Never Been So Far Apart: Works from Asia, for VideoZone5 for the Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv; The Future of Exhibition: It Feels Like I’ve Been Here Before, at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (Singapore); Das Paradies ist Anderswo / Paradise is Elsewhere, at Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa) Stuttgart and Berlin galleries; and Bound for Glory, an exhibition of works by Wong Hoy Cheong at the National University of Singapore Museum. Recent presentations on contemporary practice include the Decade Revisited... organized by the Asia Art Archive, Hong Kong 2012, and dOCUMENTA (13), The Artists’ Congresses: A Congress, Kassel 2012.
