John Reps gives lecture in Savannah

March 16, 2007

John Reps, professor emeritus in city and regional planning, gave a lecture in Savannah, GA, in September. To a packed audience in the Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, he revealed the newest theory of the origins of Savannahs city plan. While searching for something in his basement 18 months ago, Reps made an accidental discovery of the similarity between Savannahs 1734 plan, by Sir John E. Oglethorpe, and the plan of the Piazza Carlina in Turin.
