John Hanhardt: Media Matters: Cinephilia and Installation Art
Art Department Lecture Series
John Hanhardt is one of the most influential American curators in video. In his long career, first as curator of film and video at the Whitney Museum of American Art and then as senior curator of film and media arts at the Guggenheim Museum, Hanhardt was responsible for developing both museums’ collections and for establishing internationally acclaimed exhibiting programs for film and media arts. Hanhardt’s lecture will reflect on the history of artists’ interest in the materials and histories of the cinema. This lecture is co-sponsored by the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art.
