Jill Magid: With Full Consent

Jill Magid is a visual artist working in a variety of media including literature, video, sculpture, photography, and performance. Magid received a B.F.A. from Cornell Univeristy in 1995 and a M.S. in visual studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000. From 2000–02 she was a resident artist at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn. Solo exhibitions include Article 12 at Stroom (The Netherlands), With Full Consent at Gagosian Gallery (NYC), Sparwasser HQ (Berlin), Centre d’Art Santa Monica (Barcelona), and Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam. She has had recent performances in New York City at The Bowery Poetry Club, Eyebeam, The Poetry Project at St. Marks’s Church, and at Orchard gallery. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard and the Hessel Museum (NY), Artist Space (NYC), Storefront for Art and Architecture (NYC), De Appel (Amsterdam), Balance and Power (Rose Art Museum), Naked Life at MOCA Taipei (Taiwan), Positioning statement | Image Cairo 3 (Cairo), Egypt, DMZ 2005_Korea, and at the Liverpool Biennial International ’04. She has written two novellas: Lincoln Ocean Victor Eddy and One Cycle of Memory in the city of L, and is currently working on her first novel.
