James Goldman and William Chen: I-Deal: Depictions
James Goldman and William Chen present works that deal with narrative and perception. However, each work pursues different methods to display narrative and explores different ways to perceive.
Chen's short animated film, Human Elephant Conflict, presents two stories side by side, that of an elephant and that of a human, hoping to raise questions pertaining to how we define children as well as the medium of the cartoon.
Goldman developed a program to transform rapid image sequences (video) into extremely long still images. The algorithm builds the image to reflect the way in which our eyes naively see the world.
