Ilana Cheyfitz: Minds
Ilana Cheyfitz’s B.F.A. thesis exhibition, Minds, is an exploration into the artist’s childhood ways of coping with the world around her through cartoons in movies and books. It is also a simultaneous reaction to what she sees, hears, and does. The three groups of watercolor and pen drawings are titled “Comfort-1”, “Alienation-2”, and “Violations-3”. They are the artist’s personal emotions manifested into creatures and children. The goal of the work is to draw the viewer into self-reflection of their own coping mechanisms and reactions to their own troubles.
