Håkon Vigsnæs: Home Stories

Department of Architecture Fall 2010 Lecture Series

Håkon Vigsnæs founded Jarmund/Vigsnæs Architects in 1995 with Einar Jarmund. Located in Oslo, the practice focuses on projects with potential for outstanding and meaningful architecture, most often closely related to nature and preferably in strong natural settings with harsh climate. The practice — with projects that are primarily public buildings and housing projects — explores modern possibilities with sensual and tactile means, seeking the right character for the place and purpose. Currently the firm is working on a wide range of commissions mainly in Norway. Vigsnæs, who spent one year at the Architectural Association in London, worked with Sverre Fehn prior to founding Jarmund/Vigsnæs Architects.
