Abstract

View selected student drawings from the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters by the B.Arch. '26 class, organized by Leo Li and Jasper Owen.

In a sketch, the hand records the architect's visceral experience. In each physical trace, real space is translated onto a scaled page. A sketch reveals the architect's curious naivety, rigorous analysis, and creative eye.

In a drawing, an architect expresses their vision for a new space. It is an exercise in storytelling and compelling narration, and it expands our known world by offering a view of an architect's dreams.

This exhibition features the work of fourteen students who have studied in Rome and traveled around Italy between August 2024 and June 2025. In each assembly of work, the student emerges as a nascent architect, each sketch being a mediation between history and the mind of tomorrow's designer. The diverse range of work on display — including traditional orthographic drawings, hybrid-axonometrics,  perspective street-views, collages, and mixed-media representations — shows how each designer sees and learns from the architectural, urban, and artistic wonders of Italy.
