"Cowboy Country is the culmination of my artistic meditations on my upbringing in the environments of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas; 'cowboy country'. As I grew up, my newfound beliefs and understandings of the world began to clash with the conservative culture I once found normal. Cowboy Country is my first adult effort in documenting this conflict: the contrast between images of lively rodeos and conservative rallies; between memories of family and truth; between warm nostalgia and harsh realities." - Conor Martin (B.F.A.
