Enriquez and Davis Selected for USDA ThinkWater Fellowship

May 3, 2016

Jared Enriquez, Ph.D. candidate in CRP, and Sara Davis (M.R.P. '15) have been named 2016 ThinkWater Fellows. They will be part of an inaugural cohort of 11 researchers from across various disciplines at Cornell who will participate in an intensive program that involves learning and applying systems thinking to their water-related research.

Enriquez will use this opportunity to continue his dissertation research, and "investigate how local land use planning intermediates between state water policy and local development to improve water conservation measures." He adds, "The systems thinking approach will help improve my dissertation because water is all-encompassing and policies that manage water resources diffuse in complex but interconnected ways depending on location."

Derek and Laura Cabrera, codirectors of the Cabrera Research Lab, will lead the program. The fellowship program will begin May 17, culminating in a live broadcast conference at Cornell in November featuring TED-style talks and attended by experts in water issues and systems thinking.

The ThinkWater Fellowship is a new campaign supported by the United States Department of Agriculture and is led by the University of Wisconsin–Extension and the Cabrera Research Lab.
