Emma Ulen-Klees: Half-Life
While plastic pervades almost every aspect of contemporary life, one of the most direct points of contact is through single-use or "throwaway" plastics. Although indicative of the immediate consumer relationship these titles are perhaps misleading in creating associations of rapid decay. Half-life is a system of classification that strives to determine the actual lifespan, or rate of decay, of specific materials within an environment; that of plastics is most certainly not rapid. This exhibition asks that the viewer reconsider their method of looking at plastic; one that perhaps equates visual weight with one of the inherent qualities of the material.
Half-Life is an exhibition featuring new work by Emma Ulen-Klees (M.F.A. '20).
