Dan Kaplan: Investigations into Urban Ecologies

Dan Kaplan is a senior partner at FXFOWLE Architects, and design director of the firm’s Urban Studio where he can pursue his passion of sustainable city building. He is widely recognized for integrating design excellence, sustainable innovation, and an urban point-of-view into noteworthy architectural and urban design projects. Throughout his 23-year tenure at FXFOWLE, Kaplan has approached each project — from individual buildings to large-scale urban plans — with the viewpoint that it must contribute to the larger totality. As an architect, urban designer, and teacher, Kaplan continues to evolve his design vision through architectural investigation, academia, and creating commissioned work. FXFOWLE projects currently under his direction include a mixed-use project in New York City that combines residential, medical, and educational components; Eleven Times Square, a new projected LEED Gold certified corporate office tower in Midtown Manhattan; the Renaissance Atashir Office Tower in Istanbul; the Landmark Tower in Arlington, Virginia, and over 25 residential buildings in New York City.
