Cornelia Lauf: Artists' Books Work

Born in Germany and based in Rome, Cornelia Lauf is an art historian, curator, and editor of artists’ books. She earned a Ph.D. in art history from Columbia University in 1992, and served as editor-in-chief of Imschoot, Uitgevers, artists’ books publishers in Ghent, Belgium for 10 years. More recently, she is a cofounder of twostarbooks.com. Lauf has organized exhibitions or published works by or about Maurizio Cattalan, Liam Gillick, Wim Delvoye, Diana Thater, Ken Laum, Fluxus, Robert Smithson, Joan Jonas, D.J. Spooky, David Byrne, Jan Dibbets, Joseph Kosuth, and others. She is cocurator (with Clive Phillpot) of the international touring exhibition of artists’ books, “Artist/Author,” and the book of the same title published by D.A.P. in 1998. She teaches in the Department of Visual Arts at UIAV in Venice and has an editorial appointment at the Luiss University in Rome.
