Brinda Somaya and Mary Woods: Book Launch and Lecture

Please join us at AAP NYC on November 5 to celebrate the publication of Brinda Somaya's new monograph, Brinda Somaya: Works and Continuities (Mapin Publishing, 2018) and the release of the soft-cover edition of Women Architects in India: Histories of Practice in Mumbai and Delhi (Routledge, 2018), by Mary Woods. The evening will be highlighted by a discussion between Somaya and Woods followed by a reception and book signing. An exhibition designed by Somaya featuring various projects from her book will be on display.
Brinda Somaya is an internationally recognized Mumbai-based architect, planner, educator, preservationist, and community activist and is currently an Andrew D. White Professor-At-Large at Cornell University. Somaya's outstanding reputation and influence on architectural education and practice in emerging countries are well established. Her recent monograph, Works and Continuities, surveys her more than 40 years of practice.
In her most recent book, Women Architects in India, Mary Woods reveals a largely unknown history of women architects in India from the 1930s to the present day. She was both a contributor and editorial advisor to the Somaya monograph.
This event will also be livestreamed.
