Artist Talk and Lunch with David Dixon

AAP Connect Professional Development Series

David Dixon (M.F.A. '10) is an artist, filmmaker, and now art dealer, having opened a gallery called Cathouse FUNeral in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in 2013. The gallery is located in a former funeral home and is down the hall from Dixon's studio, an extension of his art practice. To date, Cathouse FUNeral has staged 12 solo shows, four group shows, and two art fairs, as well as screenings, lectures, and performances all implemented with innovative approaches to curating, such as maintaining remnants of past exhibitions in present ones and "harvesting" distinct art objects from the gallery walls. In its first two years of operation, Cathouse FUNeral has garnered reviews nationally (Artcritical, Hyperallergic) and internationally (The Guardian, Camera Austria), and in March 2016 will open a second space in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, called Cathouse Proper, wherein each show will feature a single major work by a diverse array of artists. Dixon holds a M.F.A from Cornell.
