Ali Rahim: Elegance

Ali Rahim is codirector of Contemporary Architecture Practice (CAP), a New York City–based architecture firm and associate professor of architecture at the University of Pennsylvania where he directs design research studios and coordinates the final year of the Master of Architecture Design Program. CAP has been published extensively, most recently appearing in Nikkei, Frame, Monitor, Vogue Japan, Elle Japan, Casa Brutus, Mainichi Shimbun, Harvard Design Magazine, and A+U. CAP has been nominated for an upcoming the Ordos Prize; received the FEIDAD (Far Eastern International Digital Architectural Design) Outstanding Award in 2006; and Architectural Record Product of the Month for their lighting fixture titled Opale in 2007. CAP projects have recently exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Tel Aviv Museum of Art; Serpentine Museum, London; and Entry 2006 Expo, Essen, Germany. Rahim's books include Catalytic Formations: Architecture and Digital Design and Elegance, coedited with Hina Jamelle.
