Cornell in Rome Fall 2019 Lecture Series

Alfonso Femia graduated from the University of Genoa – School of Architecture in 1992. He has been a teacher of architectural design at Kent State University in Florence and at the universities of Genoa and Ferrara. He founded of Five Plus One agency in 1995, which became Five Plus One AA in 2005, and later transformed into Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia (AF517) in 2017.

Femia has won numerous international competitions and his work is published in architecture magazines worldwide. In 2015, he founded 500 x 100, a video communication platform that deals with the theme of the city. His research on that subject led him to collaborate with major design companies including Castaldi Lighting, iGuzzini, Londonart, PoltronaFrau, Casalgrande Padana, Martinelli Luce, Xilo 1930, and Staygreen.
