Abstract

Building the road is an ambiguous title. It is intended as a personal way of reflecting on what has been learned so far and, at the same time, drawing attention back to public space, which, for Leon Battista Alberti, was represented by the road in architecture. Publishing projects, teaching, international competitions, and direct commissions are among the tools used to explore this valuable theme, which the studio views as an entirely Italian legacy from which to learn and reflect. Seen in this light, architecture, perhaps more than “saying”, must return to “giving”.

UPDATE: Michel Carlana will deliver this lecture remotely. Audience attendance is in-person.
