Abstract
Having exhibited the last three years as part of Julianne Hunter’s summer print media class, and not having that opportunity this year, Laura Robert’s thought was to design a show around what works for her as a student artist. What would inspire and encourage her as a new student at Cornell to work well, be true to her voice, and be a part of her community?
To that end, she presents PLAY PLAY, an exhibition which represents her consistent voice as a School of Continuing Education student. Her wish is to entice the viewer to interact with the show through prints, photographs, sculptures, or reading. Works presented include sculptural alphabets, consistent with past exhibitions, and paper dolls of herself created by guest collaborator Jaden Demarest. Having exhibited with Jaden for the last three years, Laura welcomes the opportunity to create anew.
Other featured mediums include intaglio, RISO, screenprint, darkroom and digital photography, cyanotype, bandsaw, paint, scissors, and glue: all tools within her expression. Three 10-minute readings will be offered during the closing reception on Wednesday, August 26.
