Abstract
Unfettered is a senior exhibition between Unayzah Afzal and Isabelle Jung, exploring ideation through dreams, journaling, and spontaneity. Their works are united by their memories and perspectives unbound by constraints — whether social, economic, or political — that diminish the gift of observation, and the inseparable notion that as we represent human experience, we accept wider realities into our field of vision.
Biographies
Isabelle Jung
Isabelle Jung (B.F.A. ’26, M.P.S. RE ’28) is an interdisciplinary artist whose thesis focuses on class-based art and ideation through spontaneity, while critically examining the commodification of not just art in the modern world, but of artists as well.
Unayzah Afzal
Unayzah Afzal (B.F.A. ’27) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work is inspired by a long-term practice of dream journaling, memory, and wanderlust. Her thesis explores the subconscious as both a subject and a powerhouse of creation, grappling with the often-limiting constructs of the present-day art institution. She examines across various media — from painting to sculpture — how to preserve the purity of imagination and storytelling through visual language alone.
