Abstract

SELF/ASSEMBLY is an exhibition of the Image Text M.F.A. 2026 graduates. Curated by Whitney Hubbs, the show is a container for photographs, videos, and visual texts that unfold and fold up over and over. Chaos, control, desire, humor, grief, and hope ricochet across the space. The works go right side up and right side down and around again and so forth. SELF/ASSEMBLY understands itself to be assembled and combined, but the works remain autonomous. It asks: How might we build or re-build a stable self in an unstable world?

Funding is provided by the Cornell Council for the Arts.
