See Setting Up a Lab Site for details on how to add a new sub-site to the system.
Lab sites share several templates and components with the main AAP site, with a few exceptions:
- Labs have a dark red bar at the top that provides access to global AAP search and menu. It also includes a back link to the labs landing page on the main site. (Set this link title and URL on the main site via Site Settings → Labs & Resource Groups Landing Page).
- Labs also have a “local” search that should be added to the menu. The URL is always
/{lab-name}/searchand the link should be titledSearch {Lab Name}to distinguish it from the global search. - Labs have a distinct topper style for their landing page.
- Labs have their own Media Library.
- By default, Labs components that let you tease linked content (e.g. the Resources List) will let you select entries from that Lab sub-site. However, you toggle on
Select from Main Siteto access content from the main AAP Site.
Landing Page
Lab sites should use the Landing Page template on their “homepage” only. This topper overlays a large title, description, Cornell Seal, and local navigation links on an image or looping video.
Sub-pages
Interior pages on Labs sites should use Default page template.
As with all basic pages in the system, a sub-navigation is automatically generated in the right-hand sidebar, showing any parent, child, and sibling pages. In certain cases, like a Labs Projects page, you may want to tease this content through visual modules like Tease Row instead. To Do so, add the Tease Row, populate it manually with your child-pages, and toggle Hide desktop sub-navigation? under the Sidebar pain at the bottom of the editor.
