Tease Grid

About the Block

  • Available in the Landing Page template only.
  • Use Automated Tease Settings or Manually Curate Content to populate the grid.
    • With Automated Tease Settings, you can create a continuously updated feed filtered by Post type, multiple taxonomies, and a numeric limit. Try setting your limit to 9-11 items, or 7 if you have Large Feature activated.
    • With Manual Curation, you can select a post to tease and then Override Defaults to adjust the asset, image, or description. Choose about 6-10 items.
  • Turn on Large Feature to pin a tease that spans the 2nd and 3rd columns. This is a great place to use the Overrides to select a looping mp4 (and/or attach a longer embedded video via Link Asset to Embed. The Featured asset always gets cropped to a 3:2 aspect ratio.

Guidance

  • On department landing pages, it often makes sense to adjust the Component header to link “News” and “Research” (or Work) to separate search results pages. Turn on Use inline linking and use the WYSIWYG field to add your links (no other formatting is possible in this text field).
  • The Tease Grid has built-in logic to create variation in asset size for teases that have Featured Images. The aim is to inset most thumbnails, but include one full-width asset in each of the three columns. In addition, items with the following always get full-width assets no matter their position:
    • Items with looping videos (to accommodate the Pause / Play button)
    • Items with Linked Embed (to accommodate the Watch button).
  • If you’re manually curating the items in your Tease Grid, you can reorder the items to change the position in the grid (and therefore the size thumbnail they use); you can also use the Override Defaults toggle to swap the asset (or add one to a text-only tease).
  • If you’re using Automated Tease Settings, you can still influence the layout of the grid by (a) turning on the Large Feature and (b) adjusting the number of items in the grid. Often an imbalanced grid can be fixed by increasing or decreasing the number of items by one or two.
