    Na Chainkua Reindorf

Inspired by the tension between the staged and reality, Na Chainkua Reindorf approaches both concepts using textiles and the female body as her point of reference. She expresses her fascination with how a human body can become a vessel for the projection of identities, experiences, and messages — and how fluid the transition can be between these projections.

"Textiles are rather significant in my family and I’m thinking about how they are passed on from one member to another, one generation to another, one family to another, one home to another, one city to another, one country to another, and so on. I used the fencing material because it evokes borders and boundaries. Its structure is open enough to see beyond it, but one cannot necessarily get beyond it. It acts to confine and to limit, but it also acts to protect. Within a globalized context, when we look at issues like the migrant crises for example, we are then forced to think about ideas, objects, materials, and things that can transcend these borders more easily than bodies do."
