New B.F.A. Student Checklist
Fall 2013 B.F.A. Student Schedule
All first-year B.F.A. students will enroll in the following courses, totaling 14 academic credits (plus, 1 non-academic PE credit), in the fall semester:
Course Enrollment Procedures
Art Studio: B.F.A. students will ballot for their art studio from Wednesday, May 8 through Friday, May 17. You will receive an email ballot with course descriptions on May 8 to rank your studio preferences. Carefully review the course descriptions and return this ballot to the AAP Registrar's Office at aap_registrar@cornell.edu by May 17. Based on your ballot, you will be enrolled in an art studio. All ballots received by the deadline will be given equal consideration. Every effort will be made to honor ballot requests. Please be thoughtful when submitting your ballot as changes to enrollment will not be allowed after placement is made. If you do not submit a ballot by May 17, studio placement will be made based on space availability. After July 5, you can confirm your art studio enrollment in Student Center.
ART 2103 and ART 2501: The AAP registrar will enroll all B.F.A. students in ART 2103 and ART 2501 by July 5. After July 5, students can confirm their enrollment in Student Center.
First-Year Writing Seminar: B.F.A. students are required to complete two First-Year Writing Seminars (FWS) in the first year of study. Students enroll in their FWS through a ballot process. Ballots can be submitted from Wednesday, July 10 through Sunday, July 21, using the FWS ballot page. Additional information is available at the Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines. Be sure to ballot for a seminar that does not conflict with required courses.
Physical Education (PE): All Cornell students are required to complete two PE courses in the first year of study. Students will enroll in PE using Student Center from Wednesday, July 10 through Friday, July 19. A complete listing of PE classes is available in the Fall Course and Time Roster. Be sure to enroll in a PE class that does not conflict with required courses or FWS.
