Farewell Architects LLC, founded by architects Michael Farewell FAIA and Lorine Murray-Mechini, AIA is an outgrowth of the nationally recognized firm Farewell Mills and Gatsch in which the two principals were partners. Michael Farewell led the award-winning design practice of the firm while Ms. Murray-Mechini led
projects and administered business activities in the office. The new firm continues the emphasis on cultural and institutional projects but with a stronger emphasis on environmental design and sustainablility. The firm believes that cultural values and environmental values should equally inform building today. The firm consists
of ten professionals representing all aspects of architectural practice including planning, interiors,preservation and design.
The firm’s areas of expertise include independent schools, colleges and universities, libraries, theatres and other cultural institutions, municipal buildings, courthouses, religious structures, and private residences.
The project starting this month is a 33,000sf building for a Seminary. Other ongoing work includes projects at Farleigh Dickenson, Montclair State University and Rutgers. We also have an Environmental Center and a Living Building Challenge building that will soon begin construction.
