Doryun Chong is associate curator of painting and sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art, New York City. Since joining the museum in 2009, he has organized solo projects with Ernesto Neto, Bruce Nauman, and Henrik Olesen, and recently presented Tokyo 1955–1970: A New Avant-Garde (November 2012–February 2013). He also coedited From Postwar to Postmodern, Art in Japan, 1945–1989: Primary Documents, which was recently published by MoMA/Duke University Press. From 2003 to 2009, Chong worked in the visual arts department at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. The exhibitions he organized during that time include: Haegue Yang: Integrity of the Insider (2009), Tetsumi Kudo: Garden of Metamorphosis (2008), Brave New Worlds (2007), and House of Oracles: A Huang Yong Ping Retrospective (2005). He studied art history, anthropology, and comparative literature, and completed his doctoral studies in art history, at the University of California-Berkeley.
