AAP Cornell in Rome Spring 2012 Lecture Series

MACRO: Programming and Exhibitions

Bartolomeo Pietromarchi is a critic and curator who, as of August 2011, has been director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome. He was director of the contemporary art program of the Fondazione Olivetti from 2003 to 2007; in 2007 he was appointed director of the foundation. Between 2007 and 2008 he was curator at the Fondazione Hangar Bicocca in Milan, and from 2008 to 2011 he was curator at the MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century Art. In this capacity he was in charge of the Premio Italia arte contemporanea, a prize in the contemporary arts. He is author of numerous essays and publications on art, most recently La nostra identità attraverso le arti visive. Pietromarchi currently teaches in the master of arts program at the LUISS University of Rome.
