M.R.P. 2010
Through the CRP department and the Mario Einaudi Center I received support during the summer of 2009 to conduct thesis research regarding social development in Massachusetts and Cape Verde, West Africa. My research specifically examines the social development potential that emigrant Cape Verdeans in Massachusetts (the Diaspora) bring back to the Cape Verde islands through collective actions. The goal of this project is to find ways to maximize social development resources in a way that appropriately interacts with the needs of that population.
This project was shaped throughout the academic year in classes, independent work, and in collaboration with faculty. This photograph is of Boa Vista, one of the rapidly developing, emigrant-dependent islands of Cape Verde.
