Eligibility and Application Process

Eligibility
Seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen from any Cornell University college, department, or program may apply. Ithaca College (IC) students are also eligible. Applicants must:
  • Have an interest in urban social-justice issues
  • Have a strong academic record and history of community engagement
  • Be enrolled at Cornell or IC during the full academic year (applicants may not participate in a study-abroad program)
  • Be prepared to:
  1. Be available to serve as mentor from August 2010 to May 2011
  2. Enroll in CRP 3301 / Urban Mentorship Initiative or the equivalent new course in fall 2010 and spring 2011. This course will be a total of 3 credits over two semesters
  3. Attend a two-day field trip to New York City in September 2010
  4. Participate in a three-day host trip in both November/December 2010 and February 2011
  5. Participate in mentor-mentee Urban Assembly program in May 2011
