The Kittens are a women's art and performance collective: Kristina, Naima, Emma, Jasmine, and Kat. The collective meets to talk about sex, anger, boredom, sassiness, their childhoods, and their fantasies, after which they make work about the discussions. This exhibition is the result of all that — an interactive environment comprised of a collection of objects and images that we found and made, both independently and communally. There will be performances and events in the space every night, starting at 8 p.m.

Event schedule:

Monday April 23, 8 p.m.

Feminist(!) YouTube Video Screening
Come by with a laptop/iPhone or use one of ours. We'll all be sitting in a circle with our computers in our laps, turning them around to show each other YouTube videos that we think are well-worth watching: gendered critique/feminist celebration/smart & satirical/seriously misguided. Participate or just watch. Or participate. (Come on shock hipsters, we're ready).

Tuesday April 24, 8 p.m.

Karen Findley's Microwave Cooking for One
Bring a mug and we'll all bake chocolate cake in it — in the microwave. Then we'll eat it, rub it on ourselves or each other.

Wednesday April 25, 8 p.m.

Knit Yourself A Friend
Want to knit yourself a travel companion but can't take knitting needles on the plane? No problem. We'll show you how to knit using only your fingers, like a crazy spider. Bring yarn if you have some. Bring needles if you're a rebel.

Thursday April 26

5-6 p.m.

Reception

8 p.m.

Motivational Speech Karaoke
Bring your fave childhood pep talk, locker room pump-up, militaristic trumpet call, rallying cry, and deliver it with fervor over bad-ass karaoke beats.

Friday April 27, 8 p.m.

The Kitten Clowder Song-and-Dance Show + Dance Party!
The Kittens + guests put on a show you won't believe. Glitter. Costumes. Cheerios. Galore. The performance then segues seamlessly into a dance party.
