Event Detail

Gabriela Jimenez

Gabriela Jimenez, M.F.A. candidate, presents an installation piece on domestic space and displacement.

Jimenez’s artwork is concerned with the human/social need for a sense of place, of authentic human attachment, and belonging. Recycled materials, such as found objects and used clothes, merge with different spaces (in this case, the Big Red Barn) to articulate the referent of the shantytowns of her city of origin, Bogotá, and explore the shifting notion of home.
