M.Arch.2 2011
UNBOXED studio, led by Lise Anne Couture and Dana Cupkova, aims at reconsidering the architecture of the Big Box art museum. We are asked to select an American contemporary artist’s work to extract and develop abstract formal systems and evaluate their performative and organizational potentials for an evolved museum typology. In the second phase, we further investigate and develop our preliminary typological system in order to accommodate the museum programs and the demand of reconnecting the Highline Park and the Hudson River Park. This new Whitney Museum will continue to break new ground and create new relationships between the museum and cutting-edge art practice, as well as with urban space and the public realm. Codesigned with Aurgho Jyoti.
