Fall/Spring Partial Teaching Assistantship

An arrangement in which financial support is given to a student who provides 7.5 hours per week in the teaching support of a course. The assignment is usually in the student's research field or a closely related one. These arrangements are made based on an applicant's qualifications and departmental needs.

While there are no teaching assistantships available in NYC, the program does set up a series of office visits intended to link students to potential employment opportunities following the completion of the program.

Teaching Associate

Following completion of the degree program, a very limited number of teaching associate positions will be open to a competitive application process. Successful applicants will be expected to work with faculty in studio teaching environments.

Research/Teaching Fellowships

Students in the Advance Design Research program are eligible to compete for a limited number of special fellowships that are granted upon the conclusion of the program each year. Fellowships of one full semester are offered to outstanding candidates in the program. These awards come with a stipend to support continued development of the final design-research project, and involve nominal teaching assignments. At the end of this period, fellows are required to publish their work in the form of an exhibition and/or lecture, and a print-ready folio of their design-research project. These fellowships are not necessarily offered every year.
