Over ten years of professional life Julián has developed several fields of interest and expertise, emphasizing aspects of design, construction, or academic work, in an attempt to adapt to the conditions of the context where he had to operate. Since graduating in Argentina, Julián has been interested in issues of global practice of architecture and urbanism. This has led him to complement his early practice in Buenos Aires with specializations in Great Britain and Switzerland. Given the difficulty of operating in these contexts without the usual support of social and professional networking, he has sharpened his capacity to rely on theoretical and technical levels as a means to communicate cross-culturally.

As a result of the scarcity of globally accepted references for design thinking, Julián has grown increasingly interested in the processes of design, more so than its representational or linguistic aspects. Although it is sometimes critical to understand a figurative code, the local decision making mechanisms are generally the most revealing aspects of a given the design culture.

Julián’s present practice is committed to the production of buildings and urban fragments, both real and speculative, as well as theoretical research and editorial projects. He is currently concluding a four year long, interdisciplinary research effort dealing with the recent transformations of urban form in the periphery of Buenos Aires.
