Volunteering

Eighth grade students from the Urban Assembly School for the Urban Environment in Brooklyn take a Cornell campus tour as part of a CUSP/MI weekend visit in March 2008. The middle school students and their parents and teachers traveled to Cornell to learn more about living and learning opportunities at colleges and universities.

Several outreach programs link students with opportunities to volunteer, or are targeted at those who have already volunteered.

CUSP Mentorship Initiative links undergraduates at Cornell with urban youth.
New Orleans Planning Initiative involved volunteer opportunities.
Peace Corps Fellows/USA offers graduate training to returning Peace Corps volunteers combined with summer placements in the Cornell Urban Scholars Program for graduate students.
Preservation Work Weekend is sponsored annually by the Preservation Studies Student Organization.
Social Justice and Public Scholarship concentration provides service-learning based education for undergraduates.
